Mara Swara is a music group that focuses on highlighting the cultural expressions and issues emerging within Karo society. It was founded by Ramanta Alkaro Sinulingga on January 5, 2024. Mara Swara embraces the concept of World Music, which allows traditional music to be incorporated into any genre or form within a musical composition.
Mara Swara has produced several traditional musical works and has performed at various events. Some of these works include “Sai Mara,” “Gundala,” “Dalan,” “Rattuh,” “Toto,” and “Oudak.” Mara Swara’s works seek to blend modern music with tradition, with the traditional elements taking a more dominant role than the modern ones. These works incorporate elements such as melody, rhythm, form, and structure.
